Fix The Slice

The Great Golf Swing Without A Slice:

In golf, a slice is a shot that causes the ball to curve away from the player's dominant hand while in flight.

BenHogan said “Reverse every natural instinct and do the opposite of what your inclined to do amd you will probably come very close to having the perfect golf swing.” Like George Costanza when he decided every thought, ever action he ever took was wrong and he needed to do the opposite. He got hired by the New York Yankees !

When I first took lessons to fix the slice I learned I had to do the opposite and it was so strange but that coming over the top casting thing was so engrained in me it took forever to fix. My golf Pro told me to bring the club back parallel to the ground and see a clock on the wall behind me. I was going counter clockwise and I need to do the opposite! Clockwise. Light bulbs were flashing in my tiny brain. What a good analogy that was what I had to do, the opposite and come from the inside. Dropping the club into the slot or some call it shallowing the club.

 I eventually beat the SLICE SLICE BABY.

The game of golf is a journey and you never arrive. Every player from Scottie Scheffler down to lowly me knows his game needs work.

As Arnold said” The game has such a hold on golfers because you compete not only against an opponent but also against the course, against par, and most surely against yourself!.”
